Since this is mostly Netto's stuff, here it goes. The tech for the mercs.

Hoppers: Teleporters, Netto-style. A flat, palm sized device with buttons for entering coordinates around the side and a thick glass dome overtop. The dome has sensors in it that respond to pressure. It can save up to twelve sets of coordinates and bookmark them from where you stand. 5 time use at full charge. When activated, the glass lights up in purple and yellow swirls before engulfing the person holding it and anyone/thing touching them. Works on a variable model, no transport weight limit, size is limited to within five foot radius.

Spectrum tech: Sounds like an encompassing term but isn't. The technology used to transfer between the real world and the net. It charges in the net and does not require recharge. However, it has a number of drawbacks. While it can shift Navis to the real world and solidify them easily enough, the human entering the net will be given NO protection of any kind. If they get deleted in there, that is their physical body, and they die. Netto doesn't really use it himself due to the inherent risks and the weakness of a human body in the net.

Possibly more to come.

Netto wasn't happy that he couldn't find Blues when he returned home, nor was Rock anywhere to be seen. Granted, he hadn't left specific instructions for Rock to not let Blues get drunk, but still...
He went to his room and opened his laptop, but there were no new e-mails for work and he couldn't have concentrated on that anyway. There was, however, one mail in his personal box.

TO: Netto Hikari
FROM: Lan Hikari C/O Sci-Lab DA Division
Subject: Darkloids
Attached: Style Change.bat

Netto,

I didn't know you that well, but Chaud did, so I guess that's why I'm asking you this. I mean, at his funeral you were really upset, and though I haven't seen you since, well...
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I need your help. Chaud wouldn't want his brother out there suffering from that. He didn't. And I can't do it myself, and neither can Hub, so...
What I'm asking is that next time you see Blues, as Dark ProtoMan...kill him. Please, please delete him. Because Blues, Chaud's brother, is suffering, I know it. Please help him. I can't bring myself to do it, and Hub won't because it's still Blues in there. But I know they'd both want this.
I'm attaching a program Hub and I got a while back. He had a copy installed already because this one wasn't compatible with him, but you're a programmer and maybe this will work for your Navi. Use it if you need to.
Just please do it any way you can.

~Lan Hikari

Netto inserted a data chip into the slot and downloaded the program, then withdrew it with trembling fingers. His eyes glazed over as he eyed it. He'd heard of the Style Change, of course, he just wasn't sure whether Rock would want it, and what it would unlock in him if he did.
Kill Blues...for Chaud...
He took a deep breath and hit the call button on his PET to put a signal out to Rock, wherever he was.
Chaud...Enzan...you were both killed by Darkloids...different versions of the same person...I'll do it. I will. Whether Rock wants to do this or not, I'll do it. I'll take down Chaud's brother. And the other one...We'll see, Enzan. I think I might do it, after all.

OOC: Doppelganger Link Details

Doppelganger/Incarnate Details:

Incarnate Link:
Origins (How the Link is Formed):

The magic that was once in the worlds finds those who still possess the ancient blood (which is everyone) and creates another person to bind them to. This person (the doppelganger) is a perfect double except for one physical feature (usually hair or eye color). The only difference beyond that is the way their brain is structured. Doppelgangers are considered nonentities because rules of the past have stated that no magically created being can have a soul. As a result, none possess a conscience. They come into existence somewhere near the place the incarnate is born, though never too near. Usually doppelganger babies are ignored and left to die; in which case the incarnate’s brain reformats itself into what is considered normal. However, in some areas of the two worlds, people will pick up these babies and look after them. Usually those who do are either doppelgangers themselves or ignorant of the fact they exist.
When a Navi is programmed by an incarnate, the same magical force will duplicate the Navi and equipment around it as well, usually the PET, and place it near where the incarnate’s doppelganger was. The odds of these Navis surviving are more favorable, as next to always the doppelganger will be near where they were found.
In very rare cases, the universe will make a mistake and make a Navi doppelganger for a human. This only happens when the incarnate will die as an infant. The link is severed almost instantly in this case, and the Navi given the ability to enter the real world (although to date, Rock was the only hacker Navi and only one to be able to isolate the program.)

Mechanics (How the Link Works)

Doppelgangers and incarnates have different emotional centers of the brain than regular people do. The ones for positive and negative emotions are split. In the incarnate’s brain, in the negative zone, there are chemicals which act as neurotransmitters across a psychic distance and form the transmission end of the link. The negative part of a doppelganger’s emotive center is hooked directly to the receptive chemicals that are linked to the incarnate’s transmitters psychically. If the negative emotions from the link outweigh the positive ones in the doppelganger’s brain, the chemicals that allow them to form their own negative emotions do not flow. If the positive levels are higher, usually because the link is weaker, the doppelganger’s negative emotions are only inhibited to the point where they are safe from mental breakdown.
The strength of the link is always determined by the amount of transmitter in the incarnate’s brain. The less there are, the weaker the link is. The doppelganger side always receives all that the incarnate’s brain sends. In some cases, there is a defect in the incarnate’s side which amplifies their negative emotions, which affects both sides. (Chaud suffered from this originally, and still does.) Breaking the link means shutting down both the transmitters in the incarnate’s brain and the receivers in the doppelganger’s brain at the same time, or else it will cause damage to both.
The incarnate’s ability to control the link means they have other psychic experience, either ESP or with another link. (In Chaud’s case, the latter.) This control is very limited though, and usually harmful to the incarnate.

Weaknesses:

Both:
-Being more in tune with links means that they are more likely to feel the aftershock of a world’s destruction
-Pain and effect retention, that is, the effect of a spell or injury will take longer than the average person to wear off

Doppelganger:
-More vulnerable to mental illnesses, addictions, and bitterness, even if the link is broken
-More susceptible to falling victim to own negative emotions when the link is broken
-A severe head injury could unbalance the negative emotive center and cause them to feel their own as well as receiving the incarnate’s, which would almost certainly drive them insane.

Other:

-If the doppelganger is killed, then the incarnate dies, awake or asleep (without an overflow option for the emotions, that part of the brain ruptures). The only exception to this is if the doppelganger dies in the first year of life, whereupon the incarnate’s brain can readjust sufficiently.
-Incapacitation of one or the other does not necessarily affect the other one, unless the doppelganger is comatose, in which case the incarnate has a high chance of sinking into clinical depression.
-If one of the two were to go insane, the other would also eventually, if not right away
-Can sense other doppelganger links (weak ability, can only do so if he is close to either the doppelganger or incarnate)
-Ability to sense portals between worlds (not where they will go, however, just that they are there.)
-Cannot die as long as incarnate is alive (Does not automatically die if incarnate does, unless the doppelganger is awake while it happens)
-Depending on the strength of the link, receives full or partial negative emotions from the incarnate and has little to none of their own (For Netto, he has a weaker link with his incarnate and he has about half-strength of his own negative emotions.)
-Soulless; no conscience

(Netto's link is with Lan, who will, at least for the moment and probably permanently, be treated as an NPC.)

Same with Blues and Proto.
Finding a Place (locked to Netto, Proto, and Chaud)

Relatively satisfied with his meeting with his alternate in the Nexus, Netto decides it is time for him to help Chaud and Proto find a place to stay. It is really the least he can do, after all that has happened. Enzan is staying with him and he's still fine with that, but there isn't enough room in his apartment for more than him. Chaud and Proto could probably afford to stay in a hotel until more permanent housing was found, although it'd be a heck of a time for him and Rock to shield them from the authorities. It was very possible they would end up dealing with the Darkloids in his world, and that point was when he would back out.
He motions them over near a portal they could not see, holding his teleporter up so they can see it.

((Posting order: Netto, Chaud, Proto))

That was a guardedly interesting day.
Enzan showed up early this morning and asked if he could stay with us. His world was destroyed. I wonder if mine isn't far behind? Anyway, he wanted me to find his incarnate so he could kill him, but Rock told me if he did it he'd die as well, so I went to go and do it while Enzan was asleep.
I found him eventually, but it didn't exactly work as I planned. I led an alternate Blues back to my apartment, where, wonder of wonders, Enzan and Blues agreed to a plan that didn't involve death. It worked, too! I was a little upset that Rock went and told everyone like that, but I can understand why he did it. I wasn't entirely comfortable with the idea either.
...Enzan is guardedly friends with Chaud now. I don't know about this. <strike>In my experience, Chauds have a habit of dying when you get close to them.</strike>
I had to act like Lan for a while to maintain a fair standard. This isn't exactly what I had in mind when I told Rock last month that we should try and find a place all the worlds connect. I can tell something bad is going to happen soon. I just don't know what or how severe.
...If something happens to Rock or Enzan, (maybe Blues too if he doesn't do that jealousy thing with Enzan for the next little while) I will shoot whoever causes it. My aim's been getting better lately. I'll definitely hit them.
I just hope it's something I can handle. I don't want anyone to hurt my friends.
